The 2017 Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is please to announce the 30th year of their annual Scholarship program for graduation seniors of Japanese descent in Northern California. Please provide the following application to those graduating seniors that qualify for our consideration as. Recipient of the Cherry Blossom Festival Scholarship.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a graduating senior of Japanese American descent at an accredited high school with a grade point average minimum of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0. Applicant should be actively involved in her or his local community.
AWARDS: Students will be awarded scholarships on the basis of commitment to their community, written essays, academic achievement and personal character. Two winners will each receive $2,000 cash. Winners will participate in various Cherry Blossom Festival activities, including the Cherry Blossom Festival Opening Ceremony on Saturday, April 8, 2017, 1:00 pm, at the Peace Plaza Stage, Japantown, San Francisco.
DEADLINE: strong>Postmarked no later than Saturday, March 11, 2017, and sent to the Cherry Blossom Festival Scholarship Committee, 2441 Farrol Avenue, Union City CA 94587-5258. Applicants may also hand deliver the application package to the National Japanese American Historical Society, 1684 Post Street, San Francisco, 415-921-5007, no later than Friday, March 10, 2017

The Nikkei Lions Club of San Francisco administers the Cherry Blossom Festival Scholarship Program for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Scholarships winners will be asked to provide a photograph to be used for the 2017 Cherry Blossom Festival booklet and the media.
